In May 2009, the “Bulgarian Pocket Encyclopedia” was published. It is the first pocket-sized Bulgarian encyclopedia, an edition with state-of-the-art design and quality. The encyclopedia is general, it provides the most important facts about the universe, man and nature, arts and literature, engineering and technology, sports, countries of the world, etc., in a concise and convenient form. A great deal of attention has been devoted to Bulgaria since its creation until today. The encyclopedia is richly illustrated with over 1,900 colour illustrations. “Bulgarian Pocket Encyclopedia” is dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. A review of the encyclopedia appeared in the “Nauka” Magazine (“Excursion through world knowledge”, issue 4/2009). In his review of the encyclopedia in the “Journal of BAS”, Assoc. Prof. D. Peev said: “And the texts… are a constructive thinking emanation – short, informative and precise – without unnecessary terminology. They are accessible to a wide audience and richly illustrated.”
