Encyclopedia “Nobel Laureates” was prepared by the team of the Scientific Information Center “Bulgarian Encyclopedia” at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Carolingian Institute in Stockholm and the Nobel Peace Committee in Oslo. The one-volume edition contains 620 articles on distinguished scientists, writers, public figures and organizations awarded the Nobel Prize from 1901 to 1993. The articles contain biographical data and information about the creative path of the Nobel laureates. They introduce the reader to the specific achievements for which the high recognition was received. The edition is equipped with black and white portrait photos of the winners of the world award. The contents of the encyclopedia are arranged alphabetically and are supplemented by name indexes, distribution of Nobel Prizes by scientific field, countries, age. Also interesting is the appendix presenting famous scientific families with several Nobel prizes. The publication is supplemented with a brief directory of international peace organizations nominating candidates to the Nobel Peace Committee in Oslo. At the end of the edition there is also a short article about Pencho Slaveikov – the only Bulgarian nominated for the Nobel Prize.
