Short Bulgarian Encyclopedia (KBE) – 5 volumes

In 1955, by decree of the Council of Ministers, the Scientific Information Center “Bulgarian Encyclopedia” was established at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with the main purpose of preparing publicly accessible reference materials. The preparation of the “Short Bulgarian Encyclopedia” began immediately after the creation of a team of scientific editors and technical assistants. About 1,500 scientists and specialists were involved in the compilation of the pilot specialized information publication. Academician Vladimir Georgiev is the chief editor of the content. The encyclopedia is general, it contains about 27,000 articles from all fields of knowledge, it is illustrated with many photos, drawings, drawings, maps. Thematic texts are supplemented with black-and-white and multi-color illustrative appendices. The five volumes of the encyclopedia were printed in the Academic Publishing House “Prof. Marin Drinov”, BAS.
