Prof. Kiril Simov, IICT-BAS, presented the ongoing activities within “Bulgarian Online Encyclopedia. Connected and Accessible Encyclopedic Knowledge” project during the Open Day of the Electronic Infrastructure for Bulgarian Linguistic and Cultural Heritage CLaDA-BG, which took place on October 24, 2025. He announced the development of an innovative online academic encyclopedic platform for the digitisation of Bulgarian Encyclopedia Scientific Information Centre’s scientific encyclopedia articles, which will be made available for public use.
Software systems, services and databases developed in the field of social sciences and humanities (SSH) were also presented during the event. Currently, key services and resources are being implemented within CLaDA-BG, their extensions being identified through open collaboration with end users. Achievements in developing language resources and the use of 3D technologies were presented by scientists from the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies, as well as their colleagues from the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, the Institute of Balkan Studies with the Center for Thracology, and Shumen University “Episkop K. Preslavski”. Within the CLaDA-BG project, they have worked on collecting, researching and digitising the Bulgarian linguistic and cultural heritage. The “Historical Chameleons” project is also ongoing – various key concepts for the Bulgarian language are being discussed.
