A demo version of the Bulgarian online encyclopedia website was presented during the Second Information Day within the project, which took place on November 26, 2025 at the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies – BAS (IICT). The event was attended by researchers, consultants, representatives of working groups, Bulgarian Encyclopedia Scientific Information Centre’s (BESIC) Director Victoria Lazova, Prof. Ivan Lirkov, Project Manager at IICT, and the Head of the BESIC team Dr. Ralitsa Geleva. Interim results of the project’s activities within the time schedule were announced by Prof. Kiril Simov, who emphasised the achievements and challenges faced by the teams during the testing of the information infrastructure. Dr. Zhivko Angelov demonstrated the newly developed lightweight version of the encyclopedia article editor. A visualisation of the content in the demo version of the website and search capabilities of the online platform were shown. It is planned to incorporate artificial intelligence capabilities for a more comprehensive search in breadth and depth. Protocols for updating the information entered were also demonstrated.
Sources of information (primary and secondary) for updating the articles, including visual information resources, as well as the role of consultants on thematic articles in the Bulgarian Online Encyclopedia, were a main focus during the discussion. The role of consultants was explained: refining scientific content, monitoring the relevance of scientific terminology; reviewing and verifying the accuracy of facts included in the electronic encyclopedia articles, adding new facts and scientific achievements to the content, and removing outdated data. It was emphasised that the names of the consultants would be published with the articles they’ve worked on.
