Dear colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Scientific Information Center “Bulgarian Encyclopedia”.
I would like to believe that the Zagreb Encyclopedic Conference, in which we took part, was a remarkable event in the development of European cooperation and, even more importantly, formulated the European consciousness to take into account the minority languages and cultures of the region. We who inhabit the geographical, linguistic and conceptual fringes of the political center must fight to strengthen the ties between the people of smaller countries and languages so that their remarkable and often little-known cultural wealth is more widely shared and known. Great things can be achieved through books and electronic publications and European cultural diversity can be seen as one of the most important qualities of the region.
